Is it bad to a buy vehicle from Utah due to salt /corriosn /rust?

I am looking at buying a 2004 Chev Suburban. It has a total of 55K miles. The vehicle was in Salt Lake City, UT for the first 3yrs,8mo as a rental veh. It spent the last 3yrs,2 mo, as a private owner vehicle in Eugene,OR. My mechanic said not to bother to go look at it because it will probably have a lot or rust/corrsion damage or the potential for such problems because of being in that area . I have no clue........... What do you think car people ?????????? It otherwise looks in great shape.
