Will an NP205 from an older Chevy bolt up to a 700r4 on a 1989 Chevy 4x4?

I have a 1989 Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4. It has a 700r4 with a 271 transfer case (i think). I am wanting to do a solid axle conversion on it. I HATE FORD and refuse to put a Ford D60 King Pin front axle on it. Will a Chevy NP205 Tcase bolt up and replace the 271 that's on it now? If so what will i need? I have a Th400 with an NP208 in a 1985 parts Suburban.. WIll any of those parts be useful; i.e. the plate between the 400 and 208 or what?
